Rangers & Kings take control early in conference semis
Chris Kreider scored the go-ahead goal and then set up Brad Richards' insurance goal 90 seconds later in the 3rd period to lift the New York Ranges to a 3-1 victory over the Washington Capitals in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series.
Matt Greene scored his first career playoff goal short-handed late in the 2nd period and rookie Slava Voynov also got his first of the playoffs as the Los Angeles Kings beat the St. Louis Blues, 3-1 in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinal series. Jonathan Quick, who shut out the Blues twice in the regular season, made 28 saves and is 5-1 in the postseason with a 1.55 goals-against average.
