Peralta bats in four & Fister throws 8 strong innings as Tigers beat Jays, 4-1

Jhonny Peralta hit two homeruns and batted in all four Tiger runs, Doug Fister pitched eight innings striking out nine and the Detroit beat Toronto 4-1.



Peralta was hitless in his last 17 at bats until his three run homer in the second inning. Fister (5-7) matching his longest outing of the season allowing one run and seven hits.

Jose Valverde saved his 20th game of the season. Detroit goes to Boston on Monday with Max Scherzer (10-5) starting just 1.5 games behind first place Chicago in the American League Central Division.
