Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder both had two hits and a homerun each leading the Tigers to a 7-5 win over the Red Sox. Cabrera and Fielder's back to back homers led to a five run fifth inning. Delmon Young hit his 12th homerun in the eighth inning.

Rick Porcello (8-6) pitched into the sixth inning allowing four runs walked two and struck out six. Jose Valverde received his 21st save pitching a scoreless ninth inning.
