The Tigers overcame a late-inning comeback defeating the Twins 6-4 on Saturday. Detroit got home-runs from Prince Fielder, Andy Dirks, and Miguel Cabrera, his 43rd of the year, and a seven inning shut-out performance from Justin Verlander. Detroit took a 6-0 lead into the eighth inning, when the Twins mounted a comeback. Denard Span reached on an error, and Joaquin Benoit, brought in to replace Verlander, gave up two walks to load the bases. Ryan Doumit then hit a grand slam to make it 6-4, giving him his 8th RBI of the series. Al Alburquerque and Jose Valverde then shut down Minnesota to even up the weekend series at a game a piece. The Tigers hope to take the rubber game of the series on Sunday when they send Anibal Sanchez
(9-13, 3.95) to face Liam Hendricks (1-8, 6.09) for a 2:10 start.
