After the Chicago White Sox lost to Cleveland earlier in the day, 4-3, the Detroit Tigers took advantage and tied for 1st place in the AL Central Division after shutting out Kansas City, 2-0. With a week of regular season baseball to go, the Tigers will be more focused than ever to take over the division, starting with a Wednesday night game against the Royals at Comerica Park.


NL WILD CARD - With the L.A. Dodgers & Milwaukee both losing, Atlanta & St. Louis took advantage and won their games to improve their magic number to 4.

AL WEST - Oakland moved to four games behind Texas with a 3-2 victory over the Rangers, but still have the magic number of 5 against them.

NL EAST - Atlanta moved closer to Washington, despite the magic number of 5 against them, after defeating Miami, 4-3, along with the Nationals losing to Philadelphia, 6-3.

AL EAST - Both the N.Y. Yankees & Baltimore lost their respective games, but New York's magic number dropped down to 7.

AL WILD CARD - Despite the L.A. Angels defeating Seattle, 5-4, the magic number of 7 is against them with Baltimore & Oakland still atop the wild card race.
