Game 4 of the AL championship between the Tigers and the Yankees was postponed Wednesday night due to a stormy forecast. There was no precipitation at game time, but the radar showed a large storm system approaching the Detroit area.
A 70 minute delay turned into a postponement and the game was called. The radar was flashed on the scoreboard screen, as to show the fans the impending storm front. The rain began to fall as soon as the fans began to leave the stadium. C.C. Sabathia, the Yankees scheduled starter, could possibly have pitched a potential game 7 on three days of rest if New York were to rally back. The new schedule will now force the Yankees to win four games in four days. Major League Baseball decided to save the integrity of a complete game tonight, as rain delays were key in games last year. Justin Verlander had two of his starts cut short due to weather last season in the playoffs. Game 4 has been rescheduled now for Thursday afternoon for a 4:07 start.
