Detroit goalie Petr Mrazek played superbly in his NHL debut giving up just one goal and leading his team to a 5-1 road win.
The Wings won their second straight game over the Blues after losing the season opener to them 6-0 on Jan. 19th. Daniel Cleary and Jakub Kindl scored in the first period, and Cory Emmerton and Damien Brunner added second period tallies just 91 seconds apart. Valtteri Filppula was the fifth different goal scorer for Detroit on the night putting the puck in the net unassisted in the third period. Drew Miller was credited with two assists on the night rounding out a deep team performance by Detroit. The story of the game though was Mrazek's turning back 26 of 27 Blues shots, allowing just one goal on the night, a power play score by Alex Pietrangelo the second period. Mrazek was called up from Grand Rapids on Monday to give Wings starter Jimmy Howard a much deserved night off. The Wings are off until Saturday when they host the Edmonton Oilers for a 2:00 p.m. matinee affair at the Joe Louis Arena.
