Red Wings overpower Vancouver in 8-3 rout at the Joe
The Detroit Red Wings scored three power-play goals in the second period and went on to pound the Vancouver Canucks, 8-3, at the Joe Louis Arena.
The Red Wings scored a season-high eight goals off of Canucks goalie, Roberto Luongo, who leads the NHL in goals-against average. Luongo entered the game with a 1.45 GAA.
Damien Brunner scored his team-leading 9th & 10th goals and also had two assists to lead the Wings with four points.
Henrik Zetterberg and Niklas Kronwall each had a goal and two assists. Four others had two points: Joakim Andersson (two goals), Daniel Cleary (goal, assist), Pavel Datsyuk (two assists) and Jonathan Ericsson (two assists). Jordin Tootoo also added a goal.
Detroit will look to extend their two-game winning streak when they head to the west coast to face Los Angeles (Wednesday) and San Jose (Thursday) to wrap up the month of February.
