Tigers lose to the Nationals in Lakeland 12-10.
Drew Smyly continues to slump, as he surrendered 5 earned runs on seven hits against the Washington Nationals on Sunday.
Smyly did strike out five batters, but just couldn't keep the ball down in the zone. Washington would go on to score seven more runs, defeating the Tigers at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland 12-10. Ross Detwiler pitched for Washington in his first game back since pitching for the United States in the World Baseball Classic. he surrendered just one run on three hits in four innings of work. Matt Tuiasosopo continues to be a bright spot for Detroit as he homered today, driving in two runs, and scoring three times. Prince Fielder and Victor Martinez each ahd two RBI of their own. Tyler Moore homered twice for the Nationals, driving in three runs. Chris Marrero also drove in three runs on the day. Bryce Harper batted 1 for 3 with a double for Washington and is batting .409 thus far this spring.
