The streak continues as Red Wings shutout Stars, 3-0
The playoff streak appeared to be in jeopardy until the Detroit Red Wings secured their spot in the postseason with a 3-0 shutout victory over the Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Center. It’s the 22nd straight season the Wings have advanced to the playoffs, which is the longest active streak in professional sports.
Captain Henrik Zetterberg got the Wings a lead near the end of a fast-paced first period, and built on it in the third period with a shorthanded goal. Pavel Datsyuk assisted on both goals and each ended up with three-point nights.
After fighting hard to make the playoffs, the 7th-seeded Red Wings will face the #2 seed Anaheim Ducks in the Western Conference quarterfinals. The official postseason schedule will be released after the Ottawa-Boston game this Sunday night.
