Rally falls short as Tigers lose to Cleveland, 7-6
Cleveland’s Chris Perez got Miguel Cabrera to hit a game-ending groundout with two on to preserve the Indians’ 7-6 win over the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park.
Tigers starter Justin Verlander (4-3) was off his game early by allowing three runs in the first two innings. Overall, he allowed six hits & five walks in five innings, striking out seven, and left after 110 pitches.
Jhonny Peralta hit a solo homerun for Detroit and five different Tigers recorded RBIs, including Omar Infante with two. Detroit will wrap up the weekend series with Cleveland this Sunday afternoon at 1 pm.
