The Detroit Tigers showed a lot of character and power to start off their 11-game road with a 6-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Max Scherzer (12-0) went seven innings, allowing three runs and four hits while striking out nine batters. Miguel Cabrera had four hits in the game, including two homeruns and Prince Fielder nailed a towering two-run homerun in the 8th inning that hit the catwalk.

Joaquin Benoit wrapped up the win as he pitched the 9th inning for his 5th save of the season. Detroit is set to play Tampa Bay again this Saturday night at 7 pm with Justin Verlander taking the mound for the Tigers.
