Tigers slaughtered at Fenway Park by Red Sox, 20-4
Fenway Park became a slughterhouse as the Tigers set a team record for most homeruns allowed in a game with eight, and after allowing runs in seven straight innings, the Boston Red Sox ended Detroit's agony with a 20-4 beatdown. The last time Detroit gave up 20 runs was nine years ago when they lost to Kansas City, 26-5.
It was far beyond one of those nights for Tiger pitchers as Rick Porcello (three), Al Alburquerque (two), Jeremy Bonderman (two), and Evan Reed (one) were responsible for Boston's 'homerun derby'. And to make matters worse, Cleveland defeated Baltimore, 6-4, move 6 & 1/2 games behind Detroit in the AL Central division, whose magic number remains at 17.
With a day off Thursday, the Tigers will look to regroup from the beating they took and head to Kansas City for a weekend series with the Royals. The first game is set for this Friday night at 8 pm.
