Porcello strikes out 10 as Tigers defeat Mariners, 4-2
Tigers starting pitcher Rick Porcello allowed only one run and struck out 10, his second-most this season & in his career, as Detroit defeated the Seattle Mariners, 4-2, to reduce their magic number in the AL Central Division to 7, thanks in part to Cleveland losing to Kansas City, 7-1.
In winning his 13th game, Porcello turned in the Tigers’ 100th quality start of the season, which is the most in the majors. With the final two weeks of the season underway, the Tigers now have a six-game lead on 2nd-place Cleveland and an eight-game lead on Kansas City in the division.
Detroit will continue their road towards another Central title when they play Seattle this Tuesday night at 7 pm inside Comerica Park.
