Cardinals & Dodgers draw first blood in Game 1 of NLDS
Carlos Beltran's three-run homerun sparked a seven-run 3rd inning as the St. Louis Cardinals got seven stingy innings from Adam Wainwright to open their NL Division Series with a 9-1 rout of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
St. Louis' Lance Lynn (15-10) will faces Pittsburgh rookie Gerrit Cole (10-7) in Game 2 of the NLDS this Friday afternoon at 1 pm.
Clayton Kershaw struck out 12 batters during seven dominant innings and Adrian Gonzalez hit a two-run homerun as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Atlanta Braves, 6-1, in Game 1 of their NLDS.
Game 2 in the best-of-five series will be this Friday evening in Atlanta at 6 pm with Zack Greinke (15-4) starting for the Dodgers against the Braves' Mike Minor (13-9).
