NY Islanders beat the Red Wings in a shootout 5-4.
Last Time the Wings went to five straight shootouts was in the 1996-97 season.
Pavel Datsyuk scored to tie the game at four with :43 sec left in regulation in his 800th career game.
Johan Franzen scored in the second period, his third goal in two games. Darren Helm scored in the first on a breakaway his second of the season.
