Red Wings overcome OT obstacle with 3-2 win over Flames
Daniel Alfredsson scored 1:03 into overtime on a 4-on-3 powerplay to help the Detroit Red Wings break an almost endless streak of OT losses with a 3-2 victory over the Calgary Flames at the Joe Louis Arena.
Alfredsson had two goals & an assist while Pavel Datsyuk produced with three assists. The win snapped a five-game home losing streak for the Red Wings and a six-game winless streak overall.
Up next for Detroit is a trip to Canada to face their 2014 Winter Classic opponent Toronto Maple Leafs. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
