At long last, Red Wings win shootout in defeating Leafs, 5-4
Daniel Alfredsson scored in a shootout to help the Detroit Red Wings defeat the Maple Leafs in Toronto, 5-4. The Wings were winless through six shootouts this season and 11 dating back to last season.
This marked the first time the Wings were in Toronto in nearly two years, and the first time they were there with Alfredsson, who is very despised by Leafs fans even after 17 seasons as an Ottawa Senator.
The Red Wings will return to the Joe Louis Arena to play their final home game of 2013 this Monday night against the New York Islanders. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
