Abdelkader stars in 3rd period as Wings defeat Capitals, 4-2
Justin Abdelkader scored twice in the 3rd period to help the Detroit Red Wings take down the Washington Capitals for a 4-2 victory.
Pavel Datsyuk added a power-play goal in the final minute, Gustav Nyquist also scored off an assist from Abdelkader, Henrik Zetterberg had two assists, and goaltender Jimmy Howard made 25 saves.
The Red Wings will return home to the Joe Louis Arena for a special Halloween game this Friday night at 7:30 pm against the Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings.
