Overtime haunts Red Wings again as N.Y. Rangers win, 4-3
New York's Derick Brassard scored a power play goal 1:50 into overtime, after Detroit tied it in the closing seconds of regulation, to give the Rangers their fifth straight victory over the Red Wings, 4-3.
Tomas Tatar scored on a power play with 7.7 seconds left while Detroit pulled goaltender Jonas Gustavsson off for an extra skater. During the winning goal in overtime, Gustavsson sustained a shoulder injury and Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock stated that he will be re-evaluated Thursday, but likely will be out for a while.
After losing three straight on the road, Detroit will return to the Joe Louis Arena for a 4-game home stretch, which starts this Friday night at 7:30 pm against the New Jersey Devils.
