Texas Southern upsets MSU in rough day of basketball
Chris Thomas scored 22 points as the Texas Southern Tigers became the latest team to upset a Big Ten school in defeating the Michigan State Spartans, 71-64 in overtime. Despite being huge underdogs on the road, Texas Southern never trailed in the extra session.
The Tigers (2-8 ), from the SWAC conference, had not beaten a ranked team since a win over Minnesota 20 years ago. This adds to an already tough month of December for the Big Ten. Nebraska lost at home to Incarnate Word less than two weeks ago.
The Spartans (8-4) will back in action this Monday evening in East Lansing when they host The Citadel at 6 pm.
