Spartans go 1-1 vs. Wildcats; U-M women beats OSU in OT

Travis Trice had 18 points and 10 assists as the Michigan State Spartans defeated the Northwestern Wildcats, 84-77, in overtime. The Spartans held the Wildcats without a point in OT until the final minute. Denzel Valentine scored 17 points for Michigan State and Branden Dawson & Gavin Schilling added 13 points each. MSU will head to Maryland this Saturday afternoon to play the Terrapins at 4 pm.




Senior Shannon Smith scored 28 of her career-high 36 points in the 2nd half & overtime, freshman Katelynn Flaherty connected on six 3-pointers, and senior Cyesha Goree had 18 points & tied a career-high 19 rebounds as the Michigan Wolverines earned a 100-94 overtime victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes in front of 3,351 fans inside the Crisler Center. Michigan will return to the court this Saturday evening when they travel to Northwestern to face the Wildcats at 6 pm.




Despite trimming a 20-point 2nd-half deficit down to two, the women of the Michigan State Spartans lost to the Northwestern Wildcats, 77-70, in Evanston. Sophomore guard Aerial Powers led the way for the Spartans with 24 points, including 15 in the 2nd half alone, seven rebounds, seven assists, and a career-high six steals. Michigan State will head back to East Lansing this Thursday night to host Illinois at 7 pm.
