Red Wings go through 8 rounds of shootouts to beat Wild, 3-2
Darren Helm, Gustav Nyquist, and Riley Sheahan scored in a long 8-round shootout as the Detroit Red Wings earned a key win over the Minnesota Wild, 3-2.
Nyquist and Sheahan also scored in regulation for Detroit, who ended a three-game losing streak. Goaltender Jimmy Howard made 22 saves before going into the shootout.
The Red Wings and Boston remained tied for 3rd place in the Atlantic Division after the Bruins won a shootout of their own against Toronto, 2-1. With Boston taking the day off, Detroit looks to reclaim sole possession of 3rd this Sunday evening when they face Washington in an Easter showdown at the Joe Louis Arena at 5 pm.
