Brian McCann drove in Jacoby Ellsbury with the tie-breaking run in the 8th inning as the New York Yankees held on to defeat the Detroit Tigers, 2-1.

Tigers starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez allowed one run on one hit and four walks in 6 & 1/3 innings while striking out eight batters. Detroit took the lead in the 1st inning on Victor Martinez's sacrifice fly, but the Yankees tied the game in the 6th inning before scoring the winning run in the 8th inning.

The Tigers will attempt to break their losing streak as they kickoff the weekend with a three-game series against the Cleveland Indians at Comerica Park, beginning this Friday night at 7 pm.
