Cespedes' 3-run homerun helps Tigers defeat Oakland, 3-2
Yoenis Cespedes hit a three-run homerun in the 5th inning to break a scoreless tie in leading the Detroit Tigers to a 3-2 victory over the Oakland Athletics.
Alfredo Simon was supposed to have been the starting pitcher for Detroit, but due to his ailing father, he instead took a flight back his homeland in the Dominican Republic to be with him. Scrambling to find a replacement, Tigers manager Brad Ausmus picked Alex Wilson out of the bullpen, who pitched three hitless innings with one strikeout & a walk in his first career start.
Detroit will now head to the south side of California to take on the Los Angeles Angles in four-game weekend series, which begins this Thursday night at 10 pm ET.
