Lions unable to hold off Chargers in season opener, 33-28
Down 21-3 halfway through the 2nd quarter, quarterback Philip Rivers helped rally the San Diego Chargers to 30 straight points for a 33-28 victory over the Detroit Lions to start the 2015 season.
Detroit's quarterback Matthew Stafford went 19-of-30 for 246 yards and two touchdowns, but also recorded two interceptions. Rookie Ameer Abdullah and Eric Ebron each scored a touchdown.
Up next for the Lions is a trip to Minnesota to face the Vikings in a NFC North showdown next Sunday afternoon (Sept. 20) at 1 pm.
