Tigers split four-game series with 7-4 win over White Sox
Starting pitcher Justin Verlander struck out eight batters in seven innings to lead the Detroit Tigers to a 7-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox.
Victor Martinez hit his 200th career homerun in the 1st inning while Miguel Cabrera sat out due to lower back soreness. Cabrera is not expected to be out for multiple games.
After resting on Thursday, the Tigers will once again play the role of spoiler when they take on the Minnesota Twins, who are fighting for a playoff spot, in a three-game weekend series at Comerica Park. Ironically, the Tigers could help the Kansas City Royals clinch the AL Central division over the weekend. The first game is set for this Friday night at 7 pm.
