Royals make early Game 1 statement vs. Toronto in ALCS, 5-0
Edinson Volquez combined with three relievers for a three-hitter and Salvador Perez hit a homerun off Toronto's starting pitcher Marco Estrada as the Kansas City Royals rolled to a 5-0 shutout victory over the Blue Jays in Game 1 of the ALCS.
Alcides Escobar & Lorenzo Cain drove in runs off Estrada (1-1), while Eric Hosmer & Kendrys Morales knocked two more off LaTroy Hawkins to put the game away.
Game 2 of the ALCS in Kansas City will take place this Saturday afternoon at 4 pm. Afterwards, the Cubs & Mets will start their NLCS showdown at 8 pm.
