Spartans robbed of title chance; Michigan rips Rutgers; EMU lose
Tommy Armstrong drove the Nebraska Cornhuskers 91 yards in the final minute and connected with Brandon Reilly for a 30-yard touchdown pass that withstood a video review with 17 seconds left to hand the Michigan State Spartans a devastating 39-38 loss. Reilly had gone out of bounds and come back in to make the catch, which, by rule, is illegal. However, officials ruled it legal believing MSU cornerback Jermaine Edmondson 'forced' him out, when replays clearly showed Edmondson never had a hand on him.
Quarterback Jake Rudock threw for two touchdowns & a career-high 337 yards and ran for a TD to lead the Michigan Wolverines to a dominating 49-16 win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. U-M tight end Jake Butt finished the day with four receptions for a career-high 102 yards.
Alonzo Smith & Gus Ragland each rushed for a touchdown and Ragland & Billy Bahl threw touchdown passes to Jared Murphy as the Miami (OH) RedHawks defeated the Eastern Michigan Eagles, 28-13, for their first MAC win of the season. The RedHawks (2-8, 1-5 MAC) held the Eagles (1-9, 0-6 MAC) to just 89 yards through the air and yielded only 103 yards on the ground. Dylan Mulder kicked field goals from 49- and 55-yards out for EMU.
