Comerica Park now open for business in 2011 season
After a rough 2-4 road trip to start the 2011 MLB season, the Detroit Tigers can finally come home. After waiting over a week. Tiger fans will jam park Comerica Park beginning today for a 6-game home stretch. This weekend, the Tigers will host the 4-2 Kansas City Royals, who are in a 3-way tie for first in the American League Central Division. Then starting on Monday, the Texas Rangers, who currently leads the AL West, will pay a visit to the Motor City.
For the concerned Tigers fan, you need not worry. The last time the Tigers struggled early in the season was 2009 when they started off 1-3. Detroit went on to win three straight at home that year. Today's contest begins at 3 pm ET, however there might be a delay in the beginning due to light rain in the forecast, but it does appear it'll pass as time goes by.
Going into today's game, 1B Miguel Caberea leads the Tigers in homeruns (3), RBIs (7), and batting average (.381). As for the pitching, starter Justin Verlander is second in the American League in strikeouts with 17 behind Chicago's Edwin Jackson (20).
Despite an ERA of 10.80, Max Scherzer will look to go 2-0 today as he leads the Tigers against Royals' starter Kyle Davies, who is looking to get win #1 after posting a 6.75 ERA in his last outing.
