Miguel Cabrera becomes a hero in Tigers' 5-4 win vs. Texas
With the score tied, the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth inning, Miguel Cabrera laced a single off Texas' Darren O’Day into leftfield and Brandon Inge scored from third base in the Tigers’ 5-4 victory against the Rangers.
Tigers right-hand pitcher Brad Penny started with an 11.17 ERA. But Penny went after hitters from the start and allowed three runs, seven hits and one walk over 6 2/3 innings. Penny didn’t get the win, but he lowered his ERA to 8.27 and had his longest outing since last season in May.
For Wednesday, Max Scherzer takes the mound for the Tigers as he attempts to become the first Tigers pitcher to win his first three starts of the season since Mike Maroth in 2006. He will go up against Texas' Dave Bush at 1 pm at Comerica Park.
