Brennan Boesch picked up the Detroit Tigers' first and final RBI in the 4-3 win over the Kansas City Royals in 10 innings.

Wilson Betemit, in his first game against his former team since the trade to Detroit, drew a leadoff walk in the 10th against All-Star reliever Aaron Crow (3-3). Andy Dirks came on to pinch run and, with one out, advanced to second on a wild pitch. Boesch then singled up the middle to score the go-ahead run.

Jose Valverde pitched a perfect 10th inning, which was aided by a nice play by second baseman Carlos Guillen to catch a line drive for the second out. It was Valverde's 31st save in as many tries this season.

The Cleveland Indians lost to the Texas Rangers, 8-7 in 11 innings, so Detroit's lead in the AL Central division is once again four games.

Rick Porcello stayed in control most of the night, but was charged with three earned runs on seven hits and no walks in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out four and threw 82 pitches.
