Titan basketball victorious at home & on the road
In most cases, it takes two halves to win a ball game. For the Titan women, it took only one. With sophomore Cherridy Thorton exploding out the gates with a career-high five 3-pointers to start the game, the Titans set the tone in the 1st half and cruised through the 2nd as they beat Valparaiso 68-52. Thorton finished with 18 points, while three others finished in double digits, including sophomore Yar Shayok who had a third double-double for the year with 12 points & a game-high 11 rebounds. The women improved to 2-1 in the Horizon League (8-6 overall) and look to continue their perfection at home (5-0) against the Butler Bulldogs this Saturday at 2 pm.
In Chicago, the Titan men took care of business as they defeated the Loyola Ramblers 83-71. Junior Nick Minnerath lead the team with 20 points, followed by Ray McCallum with 16 pts. & Chris Blake with 15 pts. The men boosted their Horizon League record to 3-1 (9-7 overall) and will stay in Chicago to play UIC this Saturday at 2 pm. The game can be seen locally in the Detroit area on WADL.
