Fister & offense help Tigers bounce back vs. Texas, 5-2
Austin Jackson had three hits and an RBI as the Detroit Tigers beat the Texas Rangers, 5-2 at Comerica Park in Game 3 of American League Championship Series.
When Doug Fister joined the Tigers for the stretch run, they didn't know how good he was going to be, much like in Game 5 in the ALDS at Yankee Stadium. He pitched into the 8th inning and Miguel Cabrera hit a solo shot that helped the Tigers guarantee two more games in downtown Detroit against Texas.
The Rangers scored in the 1st inning on an RBI single from Josh Hamilton and that was really it. Fister settled into a grove while the Tigers bats came alive with solo homeruns from Cabrera, Victor Martinez and Jhonny Peralta.
Jose Valverde pitched the 9th inning for the save as the Tigers cut the Rangers' lead in the ALCS, 2-1. Game 4 will be this Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. with Detroit starting Rick Porcello against Matt Harrison.
