Titan men open season with domination of Lake Erie, 95-57
Nick Minnerath's hot shooting and Chase Simon's strong finish powered the Detroit Titans over the Lake Erie Storm of the GLIAC, 95-57 at Calihan Hall in the regular season opener for both teams. Simon led all scorers with 24 points while Minnerath added 23 for the Titans.
Lake Erie (0-1) enjoyed their first four minutes of fame by holding Detroit (1-0) scoreless until the Titans took an 11-10 lead and later scored 18 straight points, closing the half on a 37-8 run. Minnerath started the huge run by hitting a three-pointer to open the scoring.
Minnerath led all players with eight rebounds while three other Titans notched double-digits point totals. Ray McCallum had 15 points to go along with seven assists and Jason Calliste & Doug Anderson each tallied 10 points for Detroit.
Up next for the Titans is a trip to South Bend, Indiana where the Notre Dame Fighting Irish await. The game is set for this Monday night at 9 pm.
