Riley Nelson faked the spike and threw his third touchdown pass to Cody Hoffman with 11 seconds left to give the BYU Cougars a 24-21 victory over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at the Armed Forces Bowl in Dallas, Texas.

The Cougars (10-3) wrapped up their season of independence by winning 10 games for the fifth time in head coach Bronco Mendenhall’s seven years. They won nine of their last 10 games after consecutive losses in September.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights came into Yankee Stadium in New York and defeated the Iowa State Cyclones, 27-13 at the Pinstripe Bowl.

Rutgers (9-4) ran their bowl winning streak to five and improved to 2-0 this season at Yankee Stadium, where they beat Army last month. The Scarlet Knights, who played in one bowl game before 2005, is 5-1 in the postseason under coach Greg Schiano.

Senior Vick Ballard ran for a career-high 180 yards, including touchdown runs of 60 and 72 yards, to lead the Mississippi State Bulldogs over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 23-17 at the Music City Bowl in Nashville, Tennessee. It's the Bulldogs’ fifth straight bowl victory and second consecutive under head coach Dan Mullen.

Mississippi State overcame four turnovers, thanks to Ballard’s long touchdown runs, and six sacks—its highest total since piling up seven in a win over Florida in 2000.

Blake Bell ran for his third touchdown in the closing seconds as the Oklahoma Sooners survived a late rally to beat the Iowa Hawkeyes, 31-14 at the Insight Bowl in Tempe, Arizona.

Landry Jones threw for 161 yards with a touchdown & an interception and Bell put the game away with a 21-yard touchdown run with 45 seconds left.
