Coyotes avoid sweep with 2-0 shutout of L.A. Kings
Shane Doan scored two goals and Mike Smith made 36 saves in his third playoff shutout as the Phoenix Coyotes avoided playoff elimination with a 2-0 victory over the Los Angeles Kings in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals.
Ray Whitney and Antoine Vermette had assists for the Coyotes, who escaped a series sweep by snapping the 8th-seeded Kings' eight-game winning streak in front of millions of fans that were denied the chance to celebrate Los Angeles' first berth in the Stanley Cup final since 1993.
The L.A. Kings will have a chance to wrap up the series in Game 5 this Tuesday night in Phoenix.
