Devils experience deja'vu as Kings win Game 2 in OT, 2-1
In almost an exact replica of Game 1, Jeff Carter scored at 13:42 in overtime as the Los Angeles Kings moved within two wins of their first ever NHL title with a 2-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Jonathan Quick made 32 saves to help Los Angeles earn its 10th consecutive road win this postseason and its 12th in a row over the last two seasons, both of which are NHL records.
This marked the first time in 61 years that Games 1 and 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals were decided in overtime. The last occasion was the 1951 Stanley Cup matchup, where all five games between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens went to OT. Toronto captured the Cup that year.
Leading the series 2-0, the L.A. Kings head back home to the Staples Center for Game 3 this Monday night.
