Behind Allison Schmitt’s powerful finishing kick, the Americans cruised to a second-and-a-half victory over Australia at the Olympic Games. The team started fast with Missy Franklin, stayed at or near the front with Dana Vollmer and Shannon Vreeland, and then closed the deal with Schmitt. The four female Ameicans each now have two gold medals in London, yet the relay would be Vreeland’s only event.
OTHER USA MEDALS WON...
BRONZE - Rowing (Women's Quad Sculls), Diving (Men's 3m Sychronized Platform), Gymnastics (Danell Leyva - Men's Individual All-Around)
