Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez lasted until the sixth and the Twins beat the Tigers in Minnesota 9-3.
Detroit was hitless until the fifth inning and Jhonny Peralta tied the game at one with an RBI double, Miguel Cabrera also had his 99th RBI in the eighth inning.
Sanchez (1-3) allowed five runs and twelve hits, the Tigers two games behind the Chicago White Sox for first place in the American League Central Division.
