The Los Angeles Angels beat up on Tiger ace Justin Verlander, as they tagged him for six runs defeating Detroit 6-1 Saturday night. C.J. Wilson pitched seven scoreless innings for the Angels giving up just four hits, while striking out six. Mike Trout hit a homer on Velander's third pitch of the game starting off a rocky night for one of Baseball's best pitchers. The Tigers managed only four hits on the night as their hitting woes continue. To add to a bad night, Tiger slugger Miguel Cabrera was ejected in the fourth inning for arguing balls and strikes. Justin Verlander has now given up 14 runs and 22 hits in his last two starts. Detroit scored their only run on the night in the fourth inning when Austin Jackson, who reached on an error, scored on an Omar Infante base hit.
The Tigers hope to avoid being swept in the series when they send Anibal Sanchez (7-11, 4.08) to face pitching phenom Zack Greinke (13-5, 3.72) Sunday afternoon.
