Tigers survive long enough to pull within one in AL Central

After building a big lead and almost letting it go, the Detroit Tigers held on long enough to defeat the Chicago White Sox, 8-6, and position themselves one game behind the Sox for 1st place in the AL Central Division. Even though Chicago still holds the magic number of 20, Detroit aims to share the division lead this Thursday night as they go for three wins in a row.
AL EAST - With both Baltimore & the N.Y. Yankees winning, the two teams remain tied for 1st place in the division.
AL WEST - Though Texas & Oakland both won, the Rangers improved their magic number to 18.
AL WILD CARD - With a 3-2 loss to Baltimore, the Tampa Bay Rays are now three games behind the wild card spots with a magic number of 18 against them.
NL EAST - Combined with Atlanta losing to Milwaukee, 8-2, Washington reduced their magic number to 11 with a 2-0 shutout victory over the N.Y. Mets.
NL CENTRAL - Thanks to St. Louis losing to San Diego, 3-2, Cincinnati brought down their magic number to 8 with a 2-1 win over Pittsburgh and are on pace to win the division by the end of the weekend.
NL WEST - San Francisco improved their magic number to 13 with a 8-3 win over Colorado while the L.A. Dodgers lost to Arizona, 3-2.
NL WILD CARD - Despite losing to Arizona, the L.A. Dodgers are still one game behind Atlanta & St. Louis, who hold the top spots in the wild card race with the magic number of 19.
