At long last, Tigers take over Central with 5-4 win vs. KC

It took two months, but the Detroit Tigers finally grabbed 1st place in the AL Central Division with a hard-fought 5-4 win over Kansas City. In addition to the Chicago White Sox losing to Cleveland, 6-4, the Tigers now have tha magic number of 7 and will look to reduce that number this Thursday afternoon when they wrap up the four-game series against the Royals at Comerica Park.
NL EAST - Washington & Atlanta came away with victories, but the Nationals improved their magic number to 4.
NL WILD CARD - Still fighting for the top two spots, the L.A. Dodgers & Milwaukee won their games, but still have the magic number of 4 against them with Atlanta & St. Louis in the lead by 3 1/2 games.
AL WEST - Once again, Oakland moved closer to Texas with a 9-3 win over them to move to three games behind 1st place, even though the Rangers still have the magic number of 5.
AL EAST - The N.Y. Yankees & Baltimore both won, but New York reduced their magic number to 6.
AL WILD CARD - Despite the L.A. Angels' victory over Seattle, 4-3, the magic number of 6 is against them as Baltimore & Oakland came away with wins as well.
