The Detroit Red Wings buckled under a 4-1 final against the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center that left them holding a 3-2 lead in the Western Conference semifinals. Daniel Cleary had the only goal for the Wings that tied the game at one in the 2nd period, but soon after, Chicago's Andrew Shaw and Jonathan Toews converted on consecutive power plays that ultimately sealed teh win for the Blackhawks. The Red Wings return home to the Joe Louis Arena in attempt to close out the series on Memorial Day (this Monday night) at 8 pm.
Tuukka Rask responded with 28 saves to help the Bruins Boston defeat the New York Rangers, 3-1, in Game 5 to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. Gregory Campbell scored twice and recent call-up Torey Krug scored his 4th goal of the series for Boston, who will meet top-seed Pittsburgh for the right to play in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Bruins reached the third round of the NHL playoffs for the second time since 1992. The other was 2011, when the Bruins won their 6th Stanley Cup in franchise history.
