Max Scherzer won his 11th straight game of the season and Victor Martinez blasted a 1st-inning grand slam homerun to lead the Detroit Tigers to a dominating 10-3 win over the Boston Red Sox at Comerica Park in front of a capacity crowd.

Scherzer had a shaky start, allowing two runs in the 1st inning, including a solo homerun by David Ortiz.  Afterwards, Max settled down and allowed only three more hits & struck out six through the 7th inning.

Victor Martinez led the Tigers offense, going 2-for-5 with a grand slam, two walks, and an RBI double.  Red Sox starting pitcher Allen Webster lasted only 4 1/3 innings surrendering five runs on eight hits including Martinez's grand slam.  Boston's bullpen fared no better, giving up five more runs as Detroit went on to the 10-3 victory.

The Tigers hope to make it three out of four on Sunday afternoon when they send ace Justin Verlander (8-5, 3.72) to the mound to face Felix Doubront (4-3, 4.38 ) for a 1pm start.
