Tigers denied that extra run as they lose to KC again, 6-5
Even though Justin Verlander had given up six runs, the Tigers still had a chance to go back ahead when they put runners at second and third with one out in the 8th inning, but were unable to as Detroit fell to the Kansas City Royals, 6-5.
Verlander went 5 2/3 innings and gave up eight hits and four walks. Royals closer Greg Holland threw a scoreless 9th inning, including surviving Victor Martinez’s homerun bid off the wall and Matt Tuiasasopo’s two-out bid for the tying hit.
The Tigers will look to avoid a series sweep this Sunday afternoon when they take on Kansas City at 2 pm.
