Fielder's hit in 14th inning helps Tigers defeat Indians, 6-5
Jeremy Bonderman made his return to the Tigers as a reliever, pitching three scoreless innings to help Detroit earn a hard-fought 6-5, 14-inning victory over the Cleveland Indians. The Tigers won their 11th straight and took a season-high six-game lead on the Indians in the American League Central Division.
Prince Fielder drilled the 0-2 pitch up the gap in the 14th inning to score Austin Jackson and rookie Hernan Perez, who filled in Miguel Cabrera after he hit a homerun earlier in the game.
The Tigers will go for the 4-game series sweep against the Indians this Thursday night when Max Scherzer (16-1) takes the mound.
