Tigers reduce magic number to 15, despite 5-2 loss to KC
After the NFL's Lions took care of business back home, The Detroit Tigers weren't so fortunate with a 5-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals, thanks to third baseman Eric Hosmer hitting the lead-changing three-run homerun off Doug Fister to dead-center in the 5th inning.
However, due to Cleveland losing to the N.Y. Mets, 2-1, Detroit's magic number drops to 15 in the AL Central Division as they remain 5 & 1/2 games ahead of the Indians.
While Cleveland tangles with Kansas City in their next series, the Tigers will start another 3-game series in Chicago when they face the White Sox. The first game is this Monday night at 8 pm with Max Scherzer starting things off in pursuit of earning his 20th win of the season.
