Rally falls short as Tigers lose to Boston, 4-3, to trail ALCS, 3-2
The Detroit Tigers chipped away at a four-run deficit before losing, 4-3, to the Boston Red Sox in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series at Comerica Park. With the loss, the Tigers trail the series, 3-2.
Mike Napoli had a home run, a double, and a single with two runs scored in his first three at-bats to lead the Red Sox. Tigers catcher Alex Avila left the game in the 4th inning after suffering a left patellar tendon strain and his availability for Game 6 was not immediately known.
Detroit will have to win two games this weekend at Fenway Park in Boston to keep their championship dreams alive, starting with Game 6 this Saturday night at 8 pm.
