Florida State earns national title against Auburn, 34-31
Jameis Winston threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Kelvin Benjamin with 13 seconds left as the #1 Florida State Seminoles defeated the #2 Auburn Tigers, 34-31 to become the BCS national champions. With this being the final year of the Bowl Championship Series, it will be replaced by a four-team playoff system next season and the SEC's seven-year winning streak in college football's biggest game was snapped by an ACC team that played in the first three BCS title games.
Winston earned MVP honors by going 20-of-35 for 237 yards and two 4th-quarter touchdown passes. Florida State scored 21 points in the 4th quarter and the teams combined for 24 in the last 4:42.
